7 Common Reasons Why You Won’t Do What You Love

Do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. So why are some people still stuck in jobs that they hate? Have you ever been curious about why people don't do what they love?

They say to do what you love, and love what you do. But what does it really mean? It means you have a job where you’re passionate and excited about what you do, and you actually get paid to do it. So why are most people not doing what they truly love for a living?

I ran a survey on our students to identify the top seven reasons why people don't do what they love. Below are the results, so you can get some clarity around the ideas, thoughts and beliefs holding people back.

It's a sad fact, but the fact is that we can get beyond these reasons. Often, awareness is the first step to making a change. By being aware of the seven reasons below, you may be able to overcome them and learn to prosper from your passion. Here are the top seven reasons why people don’t do what they love:

#7. Not Enough Time Or Money

Often we make the excuse that we're either poor on time, money or both. We're either too busy juggling responsibilities, or we’re in debt. People who say this will be saying it for the rest of their lives.

The fact is, we all have bills to pay. If you're waiting to pay off bills and debts, you'll be waiting a long time.

#6. Will People Pay Me For It?

#5. I'm Too Scared To Launch

Why You Won’t Do What You Love reason number 5 - I'm Too Scared To Launch imageFear has a huge impact on your ability to do what you love. Whether it's not finished or you're worrying that people will judge you, face the fear and do it anyway!

F.E.A.R. has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run OR Face Everything And Rise! The choice is yours.

My advice is to get started and make refinements along the way as you progress. The beauty of doing what you love is that it has no end. The road to success is always under construction.

#4. I Don't Know The Steps

We've all experienced procrastination, but my advice is to get that first step clear, whether it's to set up a website - write up your 'About' page, or if you want to run a workshop - write what you want to teach.

People claim not to know what the first step is, but the fact is that they do. They just need the courage to write it down and take that action.

#3. Where Do I Find Clients?

I studied business, understood marketing, and learned about communication and psychology because I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I know you do too. You want to do what you love and make a great living from it.

The fact is that you can find clients. Don't worry about how you get them. Learn the strategies and you'll have them. Learn how to serve from your heart, put in a good roadmap and the rest will take care of itself. Do what you love and the money will follow.

#2. Emotional Blocks

"The only way to truly love yourself is to do what you love."
