Have you ever been curious why people don't do what they love?
I ran a survey on our students to identify the Top 7 reasons why people don't do what they love. Below are the results, so you can get some clarity around the ideas, thoughts and beliefs holding people back.
It's a sad fact, but the fact is that we can get beyond these reasons. Often, awareness is the first step to making a change. By being aware of the 7 reasons below, you may be able to overcome them and learn to prosper from your passion..
#7. Not Enough Time Or Money
Often we make the excuse that we're either poor on time or money, or both. We're either too busy juggling responsibilities or in debt. The list goes on. People who say this will be saying it for the rest of their lives.
We all have bills to pay. If you're waiting to pay off bills and debts, you'll be waiting a long time.
#6. Will People Pay Me For It?
Many people question who would pay them for doing what they love. At the end of the day, it's just a belief system. Look up any topic and you will find someone who has been paid for it.
#5. I'm Too Scared To Launch
Fear has a huge impact on your ability to do what you love. Whether it's not finished or you're worrying people will judge you, face the fear and do it anyway!
My advice is: get started and make refinements along the way as you progress. The beauty of doing what you love is that it has no end. The road to success is always under construction.
#4. I Don't Know The Steps
There's a function inside your hind-brain which is a protection mechanism that sets off alarm bells when there is any confusion, ambiguity or doubt, which can result in the expression of procrastination.
We've all experienced procrastination, but my advice is to get that first step clear. Whether it's to set up a website - write up your 'About' page, if you want to run a workshop - write what you want to teach.
People claim not to know what the first step is, but the fact is that they do. They just need the courage to write it down and take that action.
#3. Where Do I Find Clients?
I studied Business, understood Marketing, learned about Communication and Psychology, because I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I know you do too.
The fact is that you can find clients, don't worry how you get them. Learn the strategies and you'll have them. Learn how to serve from your heart, put in a good roadmap and the rest will take care of itself.
#2. Emotional Blocks
Self doubt, laziness and caring what other people think can manifest as significant emotional blocks. Be aware of your emotional blocks. The answer is, and you might want to write this down: "The only way to truly love yourself is to do what you love."
#1. I Don't Know What My Passion Is
I don't know what my passion is?
I'm not crystal clear?
I don't know exactly what I should be spending my life doing?
Believe it or not, many people struggle to answer this and it's the number one reason why people get stuck.
