The problem isn’t that you don’t have EXPERIENCE. The problem is your EXPECTATION of what experience should look like.

You may have grown up learning that experience is tied to a piece of paper – a certificate, a qualification…

When in reality, there are other experiences besides formal qualifications.

What are these ‘other experiences’, you ask?

The best place to look for your experience is by looking at your VALUES.

Your values are the things that you believe are truly important in your life, like family, health, wealth or mindset.

Values determine what you do, your actions and even your attitude.

So, whatever your values are, you have precious knowledge and experience contained in your values.

How To Find Your Values

There’s a whole process around that. But a quick way to discover your values is by looking at how you’ve spent your TIME.

That’s because you decide how to spend your time based on your VALUES – what’s important to you.

If you were to really remember how you’ve spent your time, you would be surprised to uncover the fact you’ve spent countless hours on a specific topic by researching it on the Internet, talking to friends about it, giving advice, doing courses, reading books, watching YouTube videos or listening to podcasts.

You may not realise it yet, but that knowledge you have on a particular topic is the experience you can use to start a coaching business.

If that knowledge and experience on a particular topic aren’t crystal clear to you right now, it’s because you aren’t crystal clear on your values.

But I Still Don’t Have Any Experience Coaching People…

At this point, some of you might be thinking, ‘I hear what you’re saying, but even if I had knowledge and experience on a certain topic, I still don’t have any actual experience coaching people!’

That’s totally fine. That’s because that’s pretty much how EVERYONE starts a successful coaching business anyhow.

Step 1: You learn the coaching skills like how to conduct a coaching session, the coaching techniques you use, etc.
Step 2: You get experience coaching people. This could be coaching fellow students you did your coaching course with, practicing coaching sessions with your friends or family members, etc.

And by the time you know it, you’re out there in the world, changing people’s lives and getting paid for it.

Now all of these truths aren’t something that I just read in a book. It’s from training thousands of new and existing coaches and my own personal journey as a coach.
