Here’s how to overcome self-imposed limitations and beliefs so that you can go out there and achieve any goal that you set out to achieve and live a life that you truly love!
Sometimes when people are confronted with something difficult, their mind starts playing tricks on them.
Have you ever been in a situation where you could swear black and blue that you believed something was true, but it wasn't?
Your mind just loves to play tricks on you. And the funny thing is, you taught it how to play that game.
But the good news is, you can teach it how to un-play that game.
Quite often as a life coach, I have clients that really get tripped up by their mind where they believe things to be true that simply aren’t.
They’ll say to themselves, "I can't do this", which instantly deletes the potential of ever being able to create what they want in life.
Some of the best tips for achieving your goals is in a book called, "The Only Three Questions That Count", by Ken Fisher. And the three questions that are listed in this book are the questions that you can ask yourself when you’re looking at doing something new.
Here are those three questions that will help you to overcome self-imposed limitations.
1. What Do I Believe To Be True That Is False?
Now as you ask that question, you can begin to look around and think, "What am I telling myself on a daily basis?"
Quite often the things we tell ourselves are not really true. Things like:
- "I can't get healthy."
- "I can't make money and be happy."
- "I can't do my PhD. I'll have to take a hit to my wallet because I won't be able to work as much."
All these sorts of things are actually FALSE. So ask yourself, “What do I believe to be true that is in fact, false?”
2. How Can I Fathom The Unfathomable?
The second question that you want to ask yourself is, “How can I fathom the unfathomable?” What is it that you can see that others can’t? What do you know that others don’t?
When you think outside the box and take the necessary action steps, you will rapidly accelerate the journey to achieving any goal that you desire.
So ask yourself these questions because it will force your mind to think in new, interesting and creative ways that will allow you to overcome self-imposed limitations.
3. What Is My Mind Doing Now To Try And Trip Me Up?
As you’re doing tasks, be aware of what your mind is doing to try and trip you up. So ask yourself, “What the heck is my brain doing now to blindside me? What is my brain doing to mess me up?”
Being aware of how your mind works is the first step to un-playing the game. Don’t let your mind trip you up into believing that you can’t do it because you can!
In Conclusion
These three questions will allow you to push through any self-imposed limitations you put inside your mind. It will also allow you to think more creatively and strategically around tasks.
So the next time you're confronted with a task you believe you cannot achieve, run yourself through those three questions and see what sort of results you get.
For those of you that have trained with me before, you know that the biggest things that make your life up are the values you hold and the questions you ask yourself on a daily basis.
