I would like to share with you the three elements of success in life to help you get started towards the path of achieving any goal that you would like to achieve in your life.
Baseball bats, playing cards and Alex Rodriguez… what do these three things have to do with you achieving everything in your life and really getting the outcome you desire?
In America lives a man who is famous for his mindset coaching and working with a variety of people including some of the top-performing professional athletes of the world. His name is Jim Fannin, and he is the author of a book called S.C.O.R.E. For Life.
One of the things Jim likes to do with his top-performing athletes is to teach the three critical elements of success in life to ensure they achieve whatever it is that they desire in their chosen sport.
According to Jim Fannin, the three elements for success are:
- Find the essence of your master craft
- A huge amount of mental rehearsal
- Work your intuition
Jim was working with Alex Rodriguez who was one of the best professional baseball players in the sport and is now a famous media personality and entrepreneur.
Jim asked Alex at the time exactly what he wanted to achieve in the sport of baseball. Alex said he wanted to be the greatest homerun hitter of all time.
Jim said that it was a big goal, so they sat down and worked out what the essence of that actually is. What makes an incredible home run hitter? Is it the strength in the upper body? Is it their ability to run quickly? Is it their ability to pick the ball and understand what sort of pitch coming their way? Or is it their ability to hit the ball as hard as they can?
Let’s further discuss the three key elements of success that we mentioned earlier.
1. Find The Essence Of Your Master Craft
What they discovered was that the most important thing that Alex needed to perfect (as in the absolute essence of the craft) to become the greatest home run hitter was to hit the ball flat with an accelerated bat. When he perfected just that, he wouldn't need to do much else.
2. Huge Amount Of Mental Rehearsal
The second piece of the three elements of success in life that Jim asked Alex to do was begin a huge amount of mental rehearsal. So, what Alex used to do was mentally rehearse hitting that ball perfectly flat every single time. He only rehearsed this one thing which was hitting the ball flat with an accelerated bat.
3. Work Your Intuition
Jim got Alex to perfect and work on his intuition. Jim used to show Alex pitches that were recorded on tape. When pitchers get ready to pitch the ball, Jim would pause the video and say, "Alex, what does your intuition say what kind of ball this is? Is it a fastball, low ball, curved ball or drop ball?"
Alex would have to use his intuition to interpret what sort of pitch is coming his way. In doing so, he was able to harness his intuition to make him far more instinctive when he's out there attempting to hit the ball flat with an accelerated bat.
What This Means For YOU & How To Put It Into ACTION
First of all, take some time to set your goal and ask yourself one question:
What is the core essence that will allow me to achieve this goal effectively?
What is the essence of the craft that you are doing? In my field of personal development and assisting people like you to live your mission and do whatever you love most in life, I have determined that the essence of my master craft is to focus my attention on their hearts desires.
What I mean by that is if someone is sitting in front of me or I’m working with a client, all I have to do is focus all my attention on what they desire most in life inside their heart.
And by doing that, it will accelerate their ability to create what they love most.
Once you’ve figured out the core essence of your craft, you now embark on a huge amount of mental rehearsal. After all, Jim didn't say just a small amount of mental rehearsal, but a huge amount of mental rehearsal for true success.
And once you do that, work out some activities to harness and strengthen your intuition. Now this varies and will depend on your craft, and there are many ways to harness your intuition.
But one generic exercise I used to do is get two different colour pens, and with my eyes closed, throw them over my head and try to guess which colour pen landed where behind me.
Three Elements Of Success In Life – In Conclusion
So, there you go! Once again, the three key elements to success and achieving your goals in life are:
- Finding out the core essence of your master craft.
- Doing a huge amount of mental rehearsal.
- Strengthening and harnessing your intuition.
